~Process Pictures & Paperwork~
An essential part to the storytelling for this presentation was the pre-recorded Calvin and Hobbs Voiceovers. Many takes were recorded in the studio, with director Isaaks' input.
Loading in the show at the Joan Edgar Booth Theater. Utilizing Dante to connect to the speakers, we hung 2x CDD Live12s.
Pre-cueing a lot of the show as Isaak talked through varying moments in the show.
~ Remarks~
When the Stream Had Grown Up is a lighting thesis that revolved around the exploration of the different expressions of water. Using quotes from the Calvin and Hobbs comic strips, to lead the audience through two characters and their relationships with nature. The recording process revolved around doing many takes with Isaak in the room while giving directorial advice live. The process involved a lot of discussion as to what Isaak was envisioning and sourcing music for the performers to move to and explore. Eventually, we landed on using music that Isaak's father had composed and found the moments that worked best for each section that he was looking for.
