IRENE WANG (she/they)
is an Asian-American sound designer and audio engineer for theatre and live events based in the New York City. She is a passionate collaborator that seeks to raise and uplift the work (and spirits!) of those around her - no matter the project.
Originally from Boston, MA - Irene has been a Sound Designer and Audio Engineer in the Greater Boston Area, working to support an array of different theaters and venues. Most recently, Irene was the Sound Supervisor for Barrington Stage Company's 2025 Summer Season. Beyond overseeing a department of five engineers between three spaces, Irene was able to mix a production of Camelot with Ken Travis, and a new show called Something Beautiful: An Ahrens & Flaherty Tribute with Brian Ronan. This past winter they returned to mix the second annual production of A Christmas Carol with Boston's Commonwealth Shakespeare Company. Up until their recent closure, Irene was also a part-time Audio Engineer at Blue Man Group Boston.
She has also has the delightful opportunity to Sound Design a variety of shows. In Janauary she sound designed a whimsical TYA musical called Library Lion with the Adam Theater in Boston. Since coming to NYC, Irene has gotten to assist Ronan on a new musical Starstruck that had it's world-premiere at Bucks County Playhouse.
Outside of theatre, Irene holds a passion for working in educational settings. Recently, she worked at Ridge Ave Upper School in Cambridge, MA as the Technical Director and Sound Supervisor for their production of Willy Wonka Jr.
